For Christmas lovers of all ages, the day also offers a Tonttupolku (Elf Trail), a chance to meet Santa Claus, and gingerbread decorating.

Finnish art glass deserves bold plans

Just a few years ago, one of the most significant stories in Nordic glass art was on the brink of ending. Now, after millions invested in restoring the historic glass village, Nuutajärvi Glass aims to spark a new rise for unique, handcrafted glass.

OPENING HOURS

You are welcome to visit the Glass Village all year round. The hotel and the info desk are open from 9 to 17 from Monday to Saturday and 9–16 on Sundays. If you would like to visit the village’s museums or exhibitions outside regular opening hours, don't hesitate to get in touch. 

Changes to opening hours in December:

  • 13 Dec, 11:00–15:00  Christmas at Glass Village Event. Free admission to the Glass Museum and Oiva Toikka Birdnest. The Bistro serves soup lunch from 11:00 to 14:00 and rice porridge from 10:00 to 15:00.

  • 18 Dec, 11:00–15:00 Christmas lunch at the Bistro – €34.90

  • 19 Dec Bistro open 10:00–15:00, soup lunch served 11:00–14:00

  • 20 Dec–6 Jan Maintenance break. The Bistro, Pub Airanne, Kylähotelli 1793, and the museums will be closed.

ARRIVING TO THE VILLAGE

Nuutajärvi sits nestled among the forests of Urjala, Finland, conveniently along the route between the bigger cities of Tampere and Turku.

It’s less than an hour’s drive from Tampere, just over an hour from Turku, and about two hours from both Helsinki and Lahti.

There’s plenty of free parking in the village.
